Role Responsibilities:

As a Compensation Processing Specialist, you will be instrumental in overseeing payroll functions for our remote workforce across North America. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Payroll Management:
    • Execute bi-weekly payroll for team members in the U.S. and Canada.
    • Manage off-cycle payroll runs and retroactive calculations as necessary.
    • Ensure payroll data accuracy by working closely with Human Resources and Accounting teams.
    • Oversee the Payroll inbox and address employee inquiries related to payroll issues (e.g., pay statements, taxes, W-2 information, time tracking).
    • Facilitate the collection, calculation, and data entry for precise payment processing.
    • Resolve discrepancies, handle garnishment calculations, and guarantee compliance with tax regulations.
    • Validate employee change requests and adjustment calculations.
    • Collaborate with ADP and other vendors on payroll-related matters.
    • Complete year-end tasks, including the review/preparation of W-2s, annual reconciliations, and submission of wage data to relevant authorities.
    • Stay updated on federal, state, and local legal requirements to ensure compliance.
    • Submit federal, state, and local tax reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
    • Manage correspondence and provide timely responses to tax notices and garnishments.
  • General Duties:
    • Consult with senior team members regarding work strategies and deliverables.
    • Contribute to team goals and outcomes.
    • Enhance your skill set and improve proficiency in your area of expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Associate degree in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant payroll experience.
    • Previous experience with ADP WFN and exposure to multi-state payroll.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • General understanding of year-end review/preparation of W-2s, W-2Cs, annual reconciliations, form 1099, and submission of wage data to authorities.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of standard payroll practices and payroll systems or ERP end-to-end payroll processing.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite.
    • Advanced skills in MS Excel, including V-lookups and pivot tables.
    • Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
    • High level of integrity in producing and communicating accurate work.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
    • Capacity to maintain confidentiality, problem-solve, multitask, and work with moderate supervision.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
