Asset-Backed Impact Token Product Manager

San Francisco, United States RampRate Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPlease do not apply without proven experience in blockchain token launch work and a detailed cover letter explaining your work on this. Thank youOverview

RampRate is pioneering a new category of investment - an asset-backed impact token (ABIT). In the ABIT model, philanthropically oriented individuals, family offices, and companies donate multi-million dollar assets to be tokenized and sold as asset-backed tokens (ABTs). But rather than capturing profit for themselves, a DAO of token holders and in-kind contributors allocate the proceeds to impact projects that align with the Impact DNA of the donor and the type of asset being tokenized.

For example, proceeds tokenizing a valuable fossil collection may be directed towards further advances in paleontology (to discover more about our past) and conservation (so the world we know isn’t relegated to fossils). Proceeds from an art collection about humanity’s impact on the world’s oceans can be directed towards ocean cleanup. And so on.

We have a solid pipeline of impact projects, investors, and technology partners. We’re looking for someone experienced in launching and listing tokens to help us put it all together and get us through the last mile of launching 3-5 flagship projects to demonstrate the ABIT model’s potential. This project gig would lead to a full-time role when the project is successful.

About RampRate:

For over two decades, RampRate has helped companies innovate, grow, and create impact. We’ve advised Fortune 500 CTOs on technology roadmaps and helped them reduce vendor bills by hundreds of millions to fund those ambitions. We’ve helped startups launch and mature enough to become suppliers into those enterprise environments. We’ve contributed to the inception of multi-billion dollar industries - co-location, CDN, mobile video, blockchain, psychedelic medicine - and disruption of existing ones.

About 5 years ago, we pledged to put impact first in all our work. From helping accelerate impact-focused startups to working with NGOs like XPRIZE to get grants for their ambitious technology vision, to becoming one of a handful of B-Corp certified companies in existence, impact is our guiding star in all we do. We believe in profit through purpose - that leaders of tomorrow will emerge not through what they grab for themselves but what they give to others.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Product Manager to help us launch the ABIT product and its first 3-5 use cases. In this role, you will be the primary owner of making the ambitious vision a reality and coordinating the many parties involved. You will be someone who has intimate knowledge of the token launch process, the parties involved, the processes and pitfalls, and who we need to hire and partner with to ensure the launch is successful.

What You’ll DoBuild & Manage the Ecosystem
  • Review and augment the list of target partner roles to execute on the vision
  • Recruit, interview and qualify potential partners
  • Where appropriate, run RFI / RFP / RFQ processes to select optimal partners
  • Help negotiate partner agreements, LOIs, and other contractual commitments to each other on terms that are favorable to the project
  • Follow through on timely performance by all partners
  • Measure partner performance and ensure any missed commitments are remedied
Refine and Execute the Roadmap
  • Review our preliminary roadmap to a token launch and adjust it as necessary to be realistic yet aggressive
  • Ensure we are on track to deliver against each major milestone
  • Coordinate with RampRate team, investors, asset owners, and external parties to ensure they meet their deadlines and commitments
Refine and Execute on the Financial Model & Budget
  • Review our preliminary map of potential expenses and revenues for the project
  • Amend as needed with real-world data and personal experience
  • Develop a realistic project budget
  • Ensure that budgetary targets are met and prevent cost overruns
  • If needed, revise expectations and communicate to the team
Legal & Regulatory Coordination
  • Identify appropriate experts to ensure the project is compliant with all laws and regulations
  • Get a second opinion when needed to minimize regulatory risk
  • You are not expected to provide legal advice, but be able to do a sanity check on expert claims, be able to check reference, and cross-check against your past experience to identify potential risks
Token & DAO Launch
  • Closely oversee the token launch process
  • Respond to any early-stage crises, from token listings to community management
  • Coordinate with tech team to facilitate the launch of the DAO to allocate the impact funds
  • Build a runbook for ongoing operations of each
  • Hand off

How We Know You’ll Fit

Required Characteristics
  • 3+ years of professional experience in blockchain technology & DeFi with a role focused on tangible high-quality deliverables
  • Direct participation in at least one token launch, preferably multiple
  • Hands-on experience working with exchanges, lawyers, bankers, and others involved in a token launch
  • Product management experience preferred; project management and similar acceptable
  • International exposure - either working outside the US or with international clients
  • Professional or academic data analysis, writing and research experience
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Experience with coordinating large distributed teams
  • Experience with qualifying, selecting, hiring, and managing partners and contractors
  • Ability to improvise solutions without a clearly documented path / manual
  • Ability to research unfamiliar subjects, and seek knowledge / expertise
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a demanding area with little need for management supervision or intervention
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be productive outside of an office environment
  • Strong ethical standards, high integrity
  • High confidence and the desire for participation in a high impact team
  • Eagerness to learn with ability to build tools and methodologies “on the fly”

Personal Profile - You May be a Great Fit If You…

  • Are driven by the impact your work creates and will be more motivated by a stranger’s life being improved or an ecosystem preserved than personal profit
  • Are excited by the future of blockchain and Web3 - not just as a get rich scheme, but as a vehicle for technological / organizational transformation and social impact
  • Love building new things that don’t yet have an established recipe and roadmap
  • Are invested in getting projects over the finish line and executing
  • Have actively invested in crypto and understand the thinking of fellow hodlers
  • Are scrappy and willing to get your hands dirty.
  • Have experience in raising money and getting investors excited.
  • Thrive in uncertainty. You enjoy creating certainty from uncertainty.
  • Have a strong bias towards concrete action. You should often ask: “Why can’t this be done sooner?”
  • Have a strong bias towards ambition. You should often ask: “Is this the most ambitious plan we could come up with?”

Even if not all of these apply, we’d still love to consider your application if you’re motivated to grow into the role and plug the holes you don’t fill personally with others in your network.
