Overview:
The Global Sourcing Buyer will be an integral part of the Toughbuilt Team and will be responsible for driving global sourcing activities across multiple categories. Areas of sourcing responsibilities can include Tools, Hardware, Clothing, Storage & Organization and Technology. This role will be responsible for building and managing relationships with new and existing suppliers globally. Specifically, this role directly supports Toughbuilt’s Merchandising and Industrial Design Team. This role requires the development and execution of sourcing strategies, with an equal emphasis placed on strategy and execution including the ability to identify, analyze, and quantify opportunities as well as the ability to manage RFI, RFQ and RFPs and handle vendor negotiations. Projects will include a mix of both identifying new global suppliers and cost savings opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Sourcing suppliers and maintaining long-lasting relationships with them as well as existing suppliers.
- Implementing inventory optimization strategies within the company.
- Obtaining quotes from different suppliers.
- Negotiating price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Working with legal counsel to ensure that all contracts relating to product procurement contain all details of the negotiation.
- Assessing quotes and compiling a detailed assessment of cost breakdowns.
- Generating quote comparisons and contributing to internal supplier selection based on the quotes.
- Providing solutions to improve company spending and outsourcing.
Key Success Factors:
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data.
- Ability to drive project activity across large cross-functional teams through communication of expectations, decisions, changes, enforcement of deadlines, and creation and evaluation of deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information with executives.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of strategic global sourcing and merchandising experience (e.g., identifying new suppliers, running RFI/RFQ/RFP, reverse auctions, interest-based direct negotiations).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or other quantitative discipline preferred.
- Relevant industry or category experience a must.
- Experience in:
- Managing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment with several stakeholders.
- Identifying new global suppliers and managing these relationships.
- Negotiating with global vendors.
- Managing transformational projects that require high-level of change management.
- Working in team environments and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing and/or presenting business cases, category strategy.
- Availability to directly support and interact with multiple international business units.
- Experience traveling internationally preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Availability to work nights, weekends and travel domestically or internationally as needed.
