Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & AccountingStamford, Connecticut, USAThe role of Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Accounting is part of AXA XL’s Chief Accounting and Capital Officer (CACO) team. The successful candidate will oversee AXA XL’s Accounting Policy function. This includes interpreting accounting standards, leading technical accounting consultations, implementing policies, and providing guidance to various stakeholders within the organization. Such policy outcomes have far-reaching implications for the Company’s accounting and financial reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This position offers exposure to leaders throughout the broader Finance function, and therefore tangible opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge of the re/insurance industry. It also comes with critical responsibilities to ensure accurate adherence to AXA Group accounting policies and the execution of key internal controls commensurate with a being part of a large publicly traded company.DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include?Conduct research to support the development and resolution of technical accounting consultations on topics under IFRS.Prepare and review extensive written memoranda supporting positions taken and detailing conclusions reached through research and consultative efforts, to be presented to internal stakeholders and external auditors.Maintain the AXA XL Divisional Accounting Policy Manual and monitor developments at AXA Group for applicability at the divisional level.Monitor developments at key accounting standard setting bodies (principally the IASB and FASB) and proactively identify emerging matters with the potential to impact the Company.Support the implementation of new accounting standards, working within Finance and across the broader Company as required.Oversee the annual assessment of the Company’s goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets to identify potential impairment.Serve as an informal accounting consultative resource for the Finance organization.You will report to the Head of Global Investment Reporting and Analytics in Stamford, CT.SHARE your talentWe’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:Required Skills and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceProfessional accounting designation (CA, CPA or equivalent), with external audit experience a plus.Extensive reinsurance/insurance industry accounting and/or financial reporting experience.Highest-caliber written communication skills and experience in developing accounting position papers.Active listening, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a high degree of accountability to self and the team, and a proven ability to work independently.Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to manage ad hoc requests.Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.FIND your futureAXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, is known for solving complex risks.
