Senior IT Specialist


USA Tech Recruit are working closely with a leading li-ion battery company, based in Cambridge MA, who are looking for a Senior IT Specialist to join their team.


In this role you will focus on supporting the day-to-day IT operations such as troubleshooting issues, maintaining IT inventory, and leading projects to improve processes and security within the organization.


Responsibilities as Senior IT Specialist:

  • Receive and implement IT actions based on strategic direction from the US office.
  • Report back to the US office on progress and issues.
  • Maintain procedures and reports that provide technical support to the entire organization.
  • As part of the internal IT team, provide coverage of: first and second level end-user technical support, support of hardware/network/software, installing, configuring, and maintaining server systems (e.g., VMware, Windows server, Hyper-V, SQL), software, computer systems and maintaining IT equipment.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls to industry best practices.
  • Perform network modifications and configurations for switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
  • Prepare summary reports of network operations and server health.
  • Monitor network performance and uptime, make recommendations to improve both.
  • As needed, provide standby support and join calls outside of business hours.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in IT support.
  • Desire to expand skillset towards managing higher-level tasks (sysadmin, network admin, etc.).
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft tools (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Hyper-v, Windows Server, SQL required.
  • Linux knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple different projects at the same time.
