About the Role:

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive, this position works closely with the Executive Directors of patient care services throughout the system to continually align nursing excellence and the delivery of high quality, patient and family-centered care. The Executive Director plans, directs and evaluates nursing, clinical and general education for Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) by directing a team of managers and education specialists in the provision of continuous development and learning activities for NGHS staff and patients. 
 

Responsible for the oversight of nursing professional practice; nursing research and innovation; and nursing professional education and development across NGHS. The Executive Director oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of structures and processes that promote the development and implementation of evidence-based nursing practice; promotes advancement of cost-effective, quality patient care and services through utilization of a variety of research, analytical, and problem-solving technologies; and oversees competency-based educational programming and patient education for nursing throughout NGHS. The Executive Director fosters and maintains excellent relationships with nursing affiliations and schools and represents NGHS on various advisory boards and commissions. Serves as a liaison to affiliated Schools of Nursing, partnering to create innovative student curricula and teaching/learning experiences. 
 



Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. * NEA-BC (Nurse Executive Advanced, Board Certified by ANCC) or related certification.

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing and a Masters Degree in Nursing, MBA, or MHA or other related field. PhD or doctoral degree in related field required.

  • Minimum Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in Nursing with seven (7) years in a leadership role having a significant business impact. Two (2) years recent experience with outcomes research, teaching, and quality improvement management. 

  • Other: Professional organization membership.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for researching, designing, delivering and evaluating high-quality educational programs for NGHS staff and patients.

  • Develops and deploys a needs assessment to determine gaps in Nursing skills, care delivery and critical thinking; collaborates with nursing leaders to develop and implement the most effective educational systems to minimize gaps; and provides a mechanism of continuous improvement of the educational programs.

  • Utilizes quality improvement and risk management data, innovations in clinical care delivery and technology, regulatory requirements, organizational performance goals, as well as staff and management feedback when building the educational needs assessment. 

  • Directs nursing orientation and staff development to validate and enhance competence of clinical staff.

  • Supports implementation and utilization of clinical nursing research.

  • Incorporates system and institutional values, goals and objectives into various educational programs presented to staff in alignment with the system dashboard.

  • Directs the development and implementation of continuing education programs in Nursing.

  • Educates and markets the roles and responsibilities of nursing to a variety of audiences in the lay and professional community.

  • Evaluates program outcomes and makes modifications as needed.

  • Ensures fiscal responsibility for the total annual budget for nursing education services.

  • Directs the planning and implementation of education programs to validate and enhance professional and ancillary competence.

  • Provides oversight and leadership to the nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff.

  • Collaborates with nursing leadership, nursing staff and other disciplines to organize nursing education, quality improvement and research programs.

  • Promotes the use by colleges and universities of the facilities for clinical education and fosters good relationships between health system and their educational institutions.

  • Networks to establish the health system as a pre-eminent source of professional education, healthcare information and patient care delivery.

  • Evaluates program/student placement effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
