ZimZee Recruiting is looking for a Claims Manager (Individual Contributor) to join our dynamic and growing transportation company. In this role, you will be the key expert in managing all claims across various insurance coverage lines, ensuring timely resolution and cost control. Your expertise will directly contribute to the company’s risk management efforts by handling claims, overseeing the workers' compensation program, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.


Skills and Requirements:


  1. Bachelor’s degree in risk management, business, or a related field is preferred but not required
  2. 1 - 3+ years of experience in claims management, preferably within the transportation or logistics industry
  3. Proficiency in claims litigation, negotiation, and settlement processes
  4. In-depth knowledge of commercial vehicle insurance coverages
  5. Proven negotiation skills with the confidence to settle and close claims efficiently
  6. Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to risk management
  7. Familiarity with OSHA, FMCSA, and DOT regulations


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Oversee the handling of property damage, bodily injury, workers' compensation, and cargo claims, including communication, documentation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement
  2. Serve as the primary contact for independent adjusters, third-party administrators (TPAs), claimants, and attorneys to ensure appropriate claim settlements
  3. Aggressively work to resolve claims, reducing exposure, cost, and liability for the company
  4. Participate in vehicle accident and occupational injury investigations, providing recommendations on cause and preventability
  5. Maintain detailed and organized files on all claims, including related documentation and timesheets
  6. Collaborate with various partners to facilitate the timely return of injured drivers to work and manage light-duty programs
  7. Maintain OSHA logs and manage reporting related to workplace injuries
  8. Support operational teams in driver safety performance, injury and accident prevention, and compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, and DOT regulations
  9. Manage the insurance process for all independent contractors, including ensuring coverage, managing deductions, and contract management
