C&I VP Underwriting Team Manager – Elmwood Park, NJ

This individual is responsible for evaluating, structuring, and underwriting loan transactions, performing due diligence on prospective clients, and managing an underwriting team, while also interacting with internal and external departments ensuring compliance with credit policies and procedures.

  • Function: Responsible for evaluating, structuring, underwriting, and managing loan transactions originated from the C&I Department, both new transactions and modifications.


Requirements:

  • College Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; or equivalent related business experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Senior Underwriter.
  • Previous leadership role in a senior underwriting capacity with demonstrated ability to manage and direct subordinates.
  • Bank Credit Training Program preferred.
  • Experience with bank credit policies and procedures, C&I credit analysis, CRE evaluation, loan analysis, and guarantor/sponsor financial analysis.


Description:

  • Review and analyze C&I and commercial real estate loan requests/submissions, financial statements, property/business soundness and viability, industry trends, competition, management capability, and financial leverage.
  • Review and perform in-depth due diligence on prospective clients and their financial statements, including cash flow modeling and projections.
  • Prepare Credit Memos for approval.
  • Negotiate and recommend for approval loan modifications.
  • Manage the Underwriting staff and workflow.

Interact with:

  • RM’s to establish appropriate loan structure consistent with prescribed credit policies, underwriting guidelines and general best practices.
  • Internal Loan Review, Audit (internal and external) relating to asset reviews.
  • External Bank Accountants and Regulators during their review.
