Job Summary:

The Commercial Sales Engineer will collaborate with field sales teams, contractors, and engineers to evaluate their equipment requirements and determine system specifications for commercial projects. This role involves fostering and managing executive-level business relationships to support the sales of commercial equipment, with a focus on achieving profitable outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with distributors to effectively market, sell, and implement programs, strategies, training, and new product launches.
  • Proactively identify market opportunities, including major projects and replacement needs, and work with distributors to secure these opportunities.
  • Build trust with consultants, contractors, and developers through regular interactions, supporting product awareness and specification efforts in collaboration with distributors, including providing technical expertise when needed.
  • Deliver technical presentations, such as "lunch and learn" sessions, to educate stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with agreements between the company and distributors, covering delivery timelines, payment terms, and advertising strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless customer satisfaction from start to finish.
  • Evaluate distributor performance and implement improvements as needed, including identifying potential new distributors.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts and reports for consultants, contractors, and developers.
  • Represent the company at local industry events and organizations.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Operate independently on projects while receiving some guidance from department leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience successfully selling commercial product solutions or related technologies to consultants, architects, and mechanical contractors.
  • Strong background in building customer relationships and driving commercial equipment solutions.
  • Results-driven and goal-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, build relationships, and gain trust with team members, distributors, and key stakeholders like consultants, contractors, and developers.
  • Strong ability to communicate product value propositions and confidently support the products.
  • Ability to make decisions independently within agreed boundaries to quickly address and resolve issues.
  • Customer-focused and solution-oriented.
  • Ability to organize information and plan agendas effectively.
  • Skilled in prioritizing opportunities based on available resources and potential contributions.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in technical sales within the local market.
