RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure all aspects of design and analysis are considered during early phases of a project. This includes, but is not limited to structural design methodology, load determination, and material selection. 
  • Create and assist in preparation of detailed drawings for permitting and construction that outline the structures design and prepare technical specifications for construction materials, methods, and quality standards. 
  • Ensure structures can withstand the stresses and pressures imposed by in service use and the environment while meeting client requirements.  
  • Collaborate closely with other professionals such as architects, construction managers, and other engineers, internally and externally. 
  • Produce design work with building codes and safety standards at the forefront of all designs and decision making. 
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and address any structure issues that occur during the construction and offer solutions. 
  • Evaluate the condition of existing structures and perform relevant tests to ensure they meet required standards and specifications.  
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting design calculations, analysis, and inspections while maintaining these reports per company standards for future reference.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience  
  • Demonstrated ability to use Revit and structural analysis software. 
  • Proficient in design of building frame systems using concrete, steel, masonry, and wood. 
  • Licensed in the State of Michigan. Additional licensure would be a bonus.  
  • Structural Engineering license is also a bonus.
