We are looking for a Quality Laboratory Specialist to join our Cimsa Americas Team


This position is located in Houston, Texas,

As Quality Laboratory Specialist at Cimsa Americas you will be responsible for:


  • Conducting sampling and inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and cement,
  • Performing laboratory tests, including but not limited to strength, chemical composition, color, fineness, and setting time,
  • Operating and maintaining QC instruments, such as XRF, jet sieve analyzer, compressive strength machine, etc.,
  • Reviewing the production process to ensure conformance with quality standards,
  • Reporting any deviations from quality standards to maintaining product integrity,
  • Monitoring and reporting daily quality objectives, issues, and concerns to management,
  • Verifying that all products being produced meet the desired specifications,
  • Placing internal orders for consumables to maintain laboratory stock and an accurate materials inventory,
  • Recommending corrective actions for continuous improvement,
  • Ensuring the effective implementation and maintenance of all quality-related corrective actions,
  • Adhering to all safety policies and procedures,
  • Ensuring the correct and safe operation of equipment,
  • Attending daily meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime,
  • Identifying potential problems from collected data.

  • High school diploma or GED / Preferably (Chemistry degree),
  • Knowledge of ASTM standard related with portland cement (C150, C114, C109 etc.),
  • Able to use XRF, furnace, autoclave, scales, jet sieve analyzer, Compressive strength machine, etc.,
  • Knowledge of Cement manufacturing process,
  • Chemical analyze experience,
  • Ability to understand the methods and instruments in the laboratory for on-the-spot troubleshooting,
  • Read, understand and utilize standard operating procedures and methods,
  • Must have a good understanding of blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures,
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills,
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions of the assigned work.
