Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,865 - $4,058 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,865 - $6,336 per month

This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under general direction of the Director of each research center, this position supports the Director in the day-to-day administration of the office and research program. This position will perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties and is also responsible for the financial reporting and reconciliation of accounts under the research center and Director. Additionally, responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the center and providing required support for the research faculty, staff, and students.

Key Qualifications

Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the university infrastructure, policies, and procedures, particularly as they relate to fiscal management. Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling and ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems (Microsoft Office Suite, email, calendar, etc.). Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of office equipment and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages. Skill/Ability to: Interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist. Understand and troubleshoot most office administration problems and be responsive to inquiries and requests.Troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work area.Create, organize, and maintain accurate technical, complex, sensitive and/or confidential records and files.Understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.Analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.Perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.Effectively write and present own reports.Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.Effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.Use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and promote a positive, service oriented collegial work environment with people of diverse backgrounds.Ability to create and maintain program records and provide data for review in developing and implementing strategies to support programmatic goals and enhance processes.Effectively organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.Exceptional organization and time management skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.Work with frequent interruptions while juggling multiple assignments and projects.

Education and Experience

Completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents. Four years of related office work experience. Specialized Skills: Experience to be fully functional in all technical aspects of work assignments including personnel, payroll, budget, and accounting.
