Job Summary

We are currently looking for eligible candidates to fill the position of a full-time Therapeutic Activities Coordinator. The Therapeutic Activities Coordinator will be tasked with formulating, executing, and managing activities programs tailored for older adults with cognitive and physical impairments, in accordance with state licensing standards. Successful candidates will have strong communication skills, be able to work in a team, be professional with customers, and perform well in a dynamic environment.

We are currently hiring for the following locations:

Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center, Ashburn, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Designs, creates, and executes therapeutic activities program in accordance with state licensing regulations. Oversees and provides task supervision for activities program staff members. Monitors and assists clients with their daily living needs, including toileting, walking, and eating, in accordance with the client care plan, Center policies, schedules, standard practices, and state regulations. Helps with the development and review of program policies, procedures, management strategy, and budget for the activities program. Assesses programs to gauge their effectiveness in meeting requirements and expectations; presents reports and data for quarterly performance evaluations. Coordinates activities; schedules programs and logistics; oversees the promotion of public awareness of agency services and special events and activities; oversees program logistics; ensures compliance with Department standards; and coordinates and monitors special events. Keeps the essential program documentation in order; adheres to all state, local, and federal mandates and criteria for organizing records, documentation, and procedures. Ensures that program participants use facilities and equipment safely. Ensures courteous and timely customer service. Drives a passenger vehicle as required. Carries out additional tasks as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a field related to the assigned program or department and one (1) year related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional. Be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body. Have one year of full-time work experience within the last five years in an activities program in an adult care setting. Be a qualified occupational therapist or an occupational therapy assistant.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Criminal background, CPS/APS, and DMV checks required. Valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Requires a CDL (Class C with Passenger endorsement) learner's permit within 3 months and license within 6 months of hire. Must comply with the DOT regulations and Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
Must successfully complete 40-hour Personal Care Assistant (PCA) course within 60 days of hire.
Must report any driving offense conviction in writing to supervisor as defined in § Must complete a sworn disclosure statement before hire and annually after hire.
TB test required no earlier than 30 days before hire or no later than seven days after hire.; prefer prior to hire. Must be updated annually.
Hold or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certifications within 60 days of hire.
OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire; complete County e-learning and training requirements.
Medications management certification required within 90 days of hire; prefer prior to hire.
Virginia Department of Social Services 12-hour training must be completed annually.
