Job DescriptionThe Muskegon Lumberjacks are currently looking for highly motivated candidates seeking to gain experience in the sports industry. Internships can be completed for college credit or for the benefit of gaining experience. Interns will assist and learn from a variety of different departments within the organization, including but not limited to, game presentation, promotions, ticket sales, sponsorship sales, marketing, merchandise sales, broadcasting and communications.
TermThis internship will run through the USHL season starting in October and concluding in April or May depending on playoff results. Summer interns are encouraged to apply as well. The Lumberjacks are looking for interns for the entire season but fall/spring semester internships will be considered as well.
Responsibilities May Include
  • Work all Lumberjacks home games
  • Assist with the Chuck-a-Puck promotional program
  • Guide the mascot throughout the concourse
  • Help with set up/tear down of on-ice activities during intermissions
  • Assist with setup of signage/displays within the arena
  • Work at the merchandise stand, handling transactions using point of sale system
  • Assist with fulfillment of Lumberjacks sponsorship agreements
  • Fulfill season ticket holder requests on game days
  • Serve as a customer service representative on game days, helping guests navigate the arena
  • Assist with setup of suites and party decks for large group outings
  • May assist in Lumberjacks Hockey Network production, broadcast opportunities available
  • Work in the front office outside of game days depending on your schedule and interests to learn more about the day to day operations
  • Perform additional tasks when requested

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Working towards a Bachelor's in sport management or equivalent area of study (highly desired, but not required)
  • A reliable form of transportation
  • Ability to work during all Lumberjacks home games including nights and weekends
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain strong prioritization and organizational skills in a fast paced environment
  • Extremely coachable and willing to learn everyday
