The Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in patient care throughout nursing areas. Responsibilities include safe patient transport, dispatch services, appropriate documentation, and providing observer services for patients requiring constant supervision.
The role also involves handling general receptionist and clerical duties to ensure the smooth operation of the nursing unit.
Responsibilities
- Essential Functions
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel and according to their standards of practice.
- Adheres to The Westerly Hospital policies and procedures.
- Acts as a resource and role model, actively participating in training and educational activities for other staff members.
- Demonstrates a high level of respect, dignity, compassion, and professionalism for all customers.
- Recognizes and values the contributions of fellow employees, displaying cooperation and teamwork.
- Reports to work on time, prepared to work, and follows hospital policies for notice of lateness/absenteeism and time off requests.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred. Previous behavioral health experience preferred
LICENSURE: Current RI Nursing Assistant License Basic Life Support CPI training within 1 year of employment
SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately. Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Knowledge of basic medical terminology is a plus. Basic computer knowledge is beneficial. Ability to move or lift patients and equipment
