Job Overview
The operation of the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR) research-based Certificate Programs and Leadership Networks is crucial to the overall function of the organization. When the Center was launched, we operated one Certificate Program and leadership network meeting at Georgetown University annually. Since then, the Certificate Program offerings have expanded to 5-7 per year, with hundreds of new nationwide leaders joining the Fellows Network annually.
Additionally, we host a minimum of three in-person leadership network convenings per year through our Juvenile Justice Leadership Network and Public Information Officers Learning Collaborative, as well as an annual conference.
Since 2007, CJJR has held over 60 Certificate Programs and welcomed over 1,500 individuals into the Fellows Network. This includes Certificate Programs we host in Washington, DC., in the field across the United States, and online. Each Certificate Program project requires a dedicated, time consuming process including initial creation, development of relevant training topics and curriculum elements, direct engagement and work with instructors to create materials and presentations, vetting and acceptance of each class of participants, registration and setup for each individual with the University, implementation and execution of each actual weeklong training program, and feedback and support as teams develop and implement local Capstone Project reform efforts in their own jurisdictions.
Job Overview
The Project Coordinator – an essential role in all CJJR functions – provides vital support to the Deputy Director for Certificate Programs to achieve success in each project. Every year there is an increased demand for our existing Certificate Programs, as well as for our leadership networks, trainings and conferences designed to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders across the country.
They support CJJR's continued operation and expansion upon its Certificate Program, leadership network and trainings, and in doing so, fulfills its mission to help jurisdictions around the country shape policy and practice changes that lead to improved life outcomes for this country's children, youth, and families.
They also support the Deputy Director for Certificate Programs to coordinate all day-to-day activities involved in the organization, administration, and operation of CJJR's Certificate Programs – from the initial conception of the events to their successful completion. Their duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with Certificate Program development and design
  • Coordinate the Certificate Program application and selection process
  • Onboard participants
  • Manage registration and billing
  • Research and negotiate quotes and agreements with vendors
  • Assist with program marketing
  • Identifying/resolve obstacles to completing project/program on time and to budget
  • Manage multiple interrelated programs occurring in different locations nationwide
  • Assist event management and logistics planning for the Juvenile Justice Leadership Network, Public Information Officers Learning Collaborative, and CJJR conferences

Work Interactions
The Project Coordinator plays an important role in the development, organization, and administration of CJJR's various Certificate Programs, including those offered at Georgetown University, in the field, and online. The Project
They are supervised by the CJJR Deputy Director for Certificate Programs and have no direct reports.
They interact with all members of the CJJR staff, senior leaders and experts within the Georgetown Community and external stakeholder groups, and are a valued member of the organization, contributing to CJJR's mission to improve the lives of youth and families who touch – or at risk of touching – the justice system.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant event planning experience [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and work experience]
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organization skills and a detail-orientation
  • Work experience in handling varied and multiple tasks simultaneously, balancing creativity with logistics, client services, and vendor management duties
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and work well in a team setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google platform services (Gmail, Sites, Drive), Drop Box, and Zoom

The hourly range for this position is $20.16 – $28.85.
