The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for leading and managing a group of engineers creating solutions for Magic: The Gathering Online, in the Engineering Department at Washington, reporting to the Development Manager. This position includes the following responsibilities:
- Manages a number of engineers, providing mentorship and support
- Monitors progress of ongoing projects and sets priorities of individuals when appropriate
- Predicts and identifies potential future pitfalls and drives measures to mitigate risk
- Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure requirements and deadlines are met
- Assists the Development Manager with the recruiting process as needed
- Seeks out opportunities to increase efficiency through process improvements
Other Criteria
- Years of Experience, Education, and/or Certification...
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience creating and shipping software
- Experience leading a team of engineers
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Additionally, you should possess
- Strong knowledge of the Magic: The Gathering comprehensive rules
- Experience working with and improving large, legacy systems
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people in various roles
- Comfort working in a fully remote environment, with potential for an office environment in the future
- Ability to work on computer or phone for long periods of time
