Are you enthusiastic about automation in facilities and control systems? Do you prioritize equipment safety and reliability? The Global Real Estate and Facilities team is looking for a Lead Engineer for Facilities Automation and Control Systems to become a vital member of our Facilities Engineering and Technology group.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the automation and control systems for crane operations, which are essential to our manufacturing processes. Your expertise will ensure the reliable and continuous operation of these systems.

You will work closely with various engineering disciplines, maintenance teams, and operational units to troubleshoot control systems and maintain seamless crane operations. Your input will also be crucial for long-term maintenance strategies to optimize the performance of crane control systems. Responsibilities will include the design, development, procurement, and modification of automation and control systems for overhead cranes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create conceptual designs, cost assessments, and initial project timelines based on client specifications for equipment installations that require control hardware, including Allen-Bradley systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Analyze and interpret relevant regulations, standards, codes, and ordinances to support control design.
  • Customize project design documents to meet control requirements that align with engineering disciplines, external consultants, facility standards, and regulatory agencies.
  • Review and validate control and building automation designs to ensure compliance with client specifications, building codes, and applicable regulations, utilizing knowledge of construction principles and standard software design.
  • Confirm that equipment specifications, materials, and software in final designs are compatible with existing control infrastructure.
  • Assist construction projects by providing insights on vendor selection and proposal evaluations.

Work Environment:

This position requires 100% onsite presence. The selected candidate will be expected to work at one of the designated locations.

Export Control Compliance:

This position must adhere to export control compliance requirements. A "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required for this role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
  • At least 3 years of experience in interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • 1+ years of experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Capability to perform tasks at heights up to 50 feet above ground level with appropriate safety equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of experience with automation hardware and software from Rockwell, Siemens NX, or similar platforms.
  • More than 5 years of experience in supporting industrial automation control systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience with automation and control systems for crane and hoisting operations.
  • Familiarity with configuring control networks, including Ethernet and Serial Communication.
  • Proficiency in ladder logic, function block diagrams, statement lists, or comparable programming languages.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education and experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited engineering program, combined with 9 or more years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
