In this pivotal role, you will support the automation and control systems for crane operations essential to our manufacturing processes. Your expertise will be key in ensuring the continuous and dependable performance of these systems.

You will work closely with various engineering disciplines, maintenance teams, and operational staff to troubleshoot control systems and maintain efficient crane operations. Your input will also be vital in long-term maintenance strategies to optimize the performance of crane control systems. Your responsibilities will include the design, development, procurement, and modification of automation and control systems for overhead cranes at our Renton facilities. Your innovative ideas and creative solutions will play a significant role in enhancing these systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop conceptual designs, cost estimates, and preliminary project timelines based on client specifications for equipment installations that require control hardware, including Allen-Bradley systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Analyze and interpret relevant regulations, standards, codes, and ordinances to inform control design.
  • Customize project design documents to incorporate control requirements that align with engineering disciplines, external consultants, facility standards, and regulatory agencies.
  • Review and validate controls/building automation designs to ensure compliance with client specifications, building codes, and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles and standard software design.
  • Ensure that equipment specifications, materials, and software in final designs are compatible with existing control infrastructure.
  • Support construction initiatives by providing insights on vendor selection and proposal evaluations.
Work Environment:
This position requires 100% onsite presence.

Compliance Requirements:
This role must adhere to export control compliance regulations. A "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required for this position.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
  • At least 3 years of experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • 1+ years of experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Capability to perform tasks at heights up to 50 feet with appropriate safety equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience with automation hardware and software from Rockwell, Siemens NX, or similar platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience in supporting industrial automation control systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with automation and control systems for crane and hoisting operations.
  • Experience in configuring control networks, including Ethernet and Serial Communication.
  • Familiarity with ladder logic, function block diagrams, and similar programming languages.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education and experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited engineering program, combined with relevant work experience.
