What You'll Do:

The Ohio Department of Health is seeking a Health Services Policy Analyst to join the Immunization research team. This position will perform analytical studies of health status, cost, quality, and/or access of health care services. This position will also formulate and implement policies for specific statutorily mandated reporting/research programs. Additional duties may include:
  • Assist in designing and carrying out health research projects (e.g., Immunization Quality Improvement Program for Providers [IQIP], School and Child Care Assessments, National Immunization Survey).
  • Evaluate annual school assessments and prepare reports of analysis.
  • Develop and implement IQIP program, evaluation and performance measurement plans and logic models related to objectives and activities based on federal immunization cooperative agreement requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance to Get Vaccinated Ohio (GV) subawardees, local health departments, federally qualified health centers, physician offices and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) staff.
  • Evaluate requests for clarification of health care quality assurance measures (e.g., IQIP, NIS, and school immunization level assessments).
  • Represent the department in meetings and make presentations for policy and administrative decision making.
  • Coordinate access to health care information and reports.

Qualifications

Completion of undergraduate core coursework & 12 mos. exp. in one of following: health services administration, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, public administration, allied health sciences, nursing, economics, public health, or comparable field; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in research methodology, measurement & testing, analysis of variance & survey sampling; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of computer programs/applications used for spreadsheets, statistical analysis & graphics presentation & word processing; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in multiple regression or multivariate analysis.

OR

  • Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health behavior and promotion, heath services, epidemiology.
  • Experience working with vaccinations or in the vaccine field.
  • Experience collecting health related data and information from studies, investigations, or reports.
  • Experience with computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experiencing presenting, training, and/or public speaking.
  • Experience in creating plans, writing reports, procedures, and/or tools.
  • Experience working working with healthcare providers and local health departments.
  • Experience working with grants.
