Position Details:

Do you enjoy conducting customer research to enhance data and enable competitive insights? Would you welcome the challenge to democratize those insights by standardizing, optimizing, and automating current operational processes?

Grainger, a Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For, is looking for a Customer Information Researcher I to help us leverage standardized research processes to enhance and deepen our understanding of our customer segments.

In this impactful role, you will work collaboratively with Customer Information Researchers, Process Engineers, Technology Developers, and Business Leaders to eliminate process waste, optimize activities, automate routine work, and scale research.

By making actionable customer information readily available, you will directly contribute to helping Grainger market, sell, and deliver the best products and solutions to meet the needs of our more than 4.5 million customers worldwide.

You Will:

  • Curate and supplement customer information company-wide by executing standardized processes (primarily through online research) with an emphasis on identifying qualified prospects and accurately segmenting Grainger's current customers
  • Advance the development and continuous improvement of standard research processes
  • Contribute to quantitative analysis (with support) and write SQL to enable/conduct exploratory data analysis
  • Present and share work with peers
  • Cultivate genuine curiosity and develop a deep understanding of the US Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) market – what customers exist in which industries, and how attractive they are to Grainger

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Degree in STEM preferred
  • 0-1 years post-undergraduate experience
  • Statistics, basic data visualization and analysis skills: Excel/Tableau/PowerBI required, SQL and R/Python strongly preferred
  • Desire to develop additional technical and quantitative skills
  • Clear written and visual communication
  • Ability to conduct thorough and thoughtful online research
