Civil Project Engineer Thomas & Hutton is a growing, well-established professional services firm providing consulting services throughout the southeast. Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a motivated and driven Civil Project Engineer in Smyrna, TN. The position requires a strong understanding of civil site design and development with previous experience working with water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure design projects. This position is responsible for permitting and performing design work and engineering calculations on civil site development projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required as regular client interaction is required in this role. Knowledge of Civil 3D software required. Education: Bachelors or Masters in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain registration within 6 months of hire required. Experience: 5+ years' experience in working in the field of Civil Engineering Design. Strong AutoCAD and computer-based civil design skills. Skills:
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications.
  • Progressive experience in planning, design, and permitting of civil site design, drainage improvement, and small transportation projects.
  • Ability to write technical specifications and bid documents
  • Strong understanding of stormwater hydraulics and hydrology
  • Strong understanding of how to effectively prepare grading and drainage plans and reports
  • Ability to perform construction administration which includes construction site visits and coordination with the client and contractor
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks
  • Highly client service oriented, self-starter, and team player
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Excellent time management skills
  • The ability to work a regular schedule of 730AM - 530PM Mon-Thurs and 730AM - 1130AM Fri. with additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
