Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team at Webber. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in analyzing, preparing, and reviewing bids for heavy civil projects, including roadway, highway, and bridge projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analyses to determine the most cost-effective solutions for projects.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare and review bids, including earthwork, utilities, mechanical piping, and amenities, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with clients, vendors, and personnel from other departments to discuss project strategies, estimates, and resolve conflict issues.
  • Estimate Review: Review plans and specifications for general compliance and standard industry practices for utility and water/wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Take-Offs and Pricing: Administer full cycle take-offs and pricing for assigned divisions, subcontractor coordination, evaluation of skills, bid preparation, and submittal of bid.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors for divisions using SmartBidNet software.
  • Sub-Bid Analysis: Prepare sub-bid analysis documents for use by project teams in qualifying sub-bids and material.
  • Estimate Development: Prepare electronic estimates, including preliminary cost information.
  • Documentation: Prepare documentation and estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership to others through example and by sharing knowledge and skill.
  • Project Management: Maintain a highly organized work environment and manage multiple projects with various bid dates simultaneously.
  • Communication: Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Lessons Learned: Complete post-bid analysis after bid for lessons learned and problems that were encountered.
  • Training and Development: Train and develop less experienced estimators.
Requirements
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in all aspects of utility construction with exposure to at least three different market segments: water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, water reclamation/purification, and de-salinization.
  • Education: A minimum Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
  • Skills: Experience in operating estimating software such as AutoCAD, Primavera, Timberline, WinEst, etc. Moderate to high level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word.
  • Abilities: Ability to work largely independently, be self-motivated, and demonstrate initiative, managing multiple deadlines at one time. Ability to work as part of a team throughout the pre-construction stage.
  • Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind. Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects.
