Senior .NET Solutions Architect

Smyrna, Georgia, United States PowerPlan, Inc. Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive individual with a strong commitment to excellence and a curious mindset to keep abreast of the latest advancements in technology. This role presents an exciting opportunity to assist a thriving organization in leveraging contemporary technology to address significant business challenges. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing successful and extensive development initiatives. Our team is dynamic, consistently exceeding expectations while enjoying the journey.

The primary duty of a .NET Solutions Architect is to design and sustain proprietary software applications that deliver value to our clients. Key projects in this endeavor encompass: cloud-based enterprise tax and accounting solutions tailored for the energy sector, shared services components for reporting and data visualization, and tools for business workflow integration.

While in-depth knowledge of the specific application is not mandatory, it is crucial for the software architect to collaborate with subject matter experts to ascertain the genuine needs of the project. Effective communication with users and cross-functional collaboration with other internal roles is vital for achieving ultimate success. A successful architect also possesses the ability to comprehend the architecture of the system design and recognize how their specific contributions fit into the broader project framework. The most effective software architects grasp the entire system from both a technical and functional standpoint, as well as from the user's perspective.

Key Performance Objectives

1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the project(s): In the initial weeks, engage with the project Team Leader, fellow developers, end-users, clients, and other key stakeholders to assess the project's status and identify how this role integrates into the overall scope. Acquire all necessary knowledge to contribute to the ongoing development and support of the assigned software modules and present this understanding to the Director of Software Development.

2. Develop a personal growth plan: Within the first weeks, formulate a personal development strategy that includes training goals, contributions as a member of an Agile sprint team (e.g., personal story point velocity targets, functional contributions, user interactions, code reviews, unit testing and test automation, story estimation, etc.), and suggestions for enhancing departmental processes and methodologies. Discuss this plan with the Manager of Software Development.

3. Design and maintain proprietary software applications that provide value to our clients: Develop cloud-based enterprise tax and accounting solutions for the energy sector, shared services components for reporting and data visualization, and business workflow integration tools.

4. Collaborate within an Agile Scrum team: Cultivate significant skills and efforts in collaboration, teamwork, communication, and self-leadership. In alignment with Patrick Lencioni's principles from The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, this role will contribute to a culture focused on building trust, mastering conflict, achieving commitments, embracing accountability, and concentrating on results.

Skills and Experiences

For this position, candidates should possess over 8 years of experience, academic qualifications in computer science and/or engineering, and experience with enterprise software such as ERP systems, financial/accounting solutions, and SaaS solutions in a public cloud environment.

Specific technical skills required include proficiency in .NET Core and C#, modern front-end frameworks and languages (Angular, React, Blazor, Javascript, Typescript, CSS), microservices, containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes), continuous integration (CI) tools, and relational databases (SQL Server and Azure SQL).

PowerPlan is an Equal Opportunity Employer

Please note that this is a hybrid role involving a combination of onsite work and remote work. While we strive to accommodate flexible working arrangements when feasible, there will be occasions when onsite presence is necessary, including scheduled office days, team meetings, client meetings, or special events.
