You will be reporting to the Workplace Manager. As the Health & Safety Specialist, you will support the Justworks' Health & Safety strategy by working within a framework of functions to ensure that a high level of physical security standards are established and maintained, as well as establish best practice for the Health & Safety of our employees (Fire Safety, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Action Planning, Ergonomics, etc.).

  • Support the health, safety, and security team and initiatives.
  • Develop, communicate and maintain health & safety plans in the workplace
  • Develop and maintain Justworks' Emergency Action Plan
  • Coordinate training for CPR/First Aid & AED
  • Conduct training and presentations for health & safety matters and accident prevention
  • Conduct risk assessment during planning stages of Justworks' events and makes risk-based recommendation of appropriate protections needed
  • Monitor compliance to policies and adherence to local laws
  • Lead fire safety initiative i.e. ensure fire safety personnel is up to date, lead evacuation drills, ensure fire extinguishers are properly placed, inspected and functional
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of the facility to ensure compliance with Justworks' security standards.
  • Assist with the management of access control system & CCTV (i.e. assigning access cards, audits, liaise with vendors on maintenance & repair, monitor cameras and other alerts such as unauthorized badge access, etc).
  • Ensure communication channels are up to date (i.e. Slack, company intranet).
  • Assist in the development of training materials (i.e. fire safety, evacuation drills, physical security, ergonomics).
  • Assist with incident and illness investigations, report completion and dissemination.
  • Maintain and update data collection tools, physical and electronic records (i.e. inspection and training records; drill records, incident and illness reports; exposure logs; checklists, questionnaires, computer applications).
  • Provide support for committees (i.e. maintain intranet, set up Zoom meetings, distribute information and documents, monitor attendance, follow-up on issues, and prepare minutes).
  • Monitor for changes in requirements, guidelines, and mandates (i.e. CDC, OSHA, NYC) and assist in updating programs and policies to address changes.
  • Be a member of the emergency response team for real and perceived emergencies and threats (i.e. hazardous materials, fire alarms, indoor air quality concerns), during regular working hours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a public health and/or safety related support role
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to learn new software and applications (i.e. Google Workspace, Slack)
  • CPR/First Aid Certified a plus
  • OSHA 10 Hour a plus

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $86,000.00 to $94,600.00 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
