Job Description BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Business Development to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Combat Vehicle business in Stafford, VA. This role is responsible for Business Development and Capture activities supporting annual strategy and business campaign plans to meet or exceed the annual IBP orders. The role with support planning and qualifying prospects into viable opportunities, capture activities for sales of Combat Vehicles, Weapon Systems, Field Service Support, and Training capability, as well as unique service and support pursuits. The Director will provide line of business-specific expertise to support capture and program management functions. Responsibilities include, identifying and establishing new domestic and international business opportunities; developing and maintaining effective customer relations; developing specific win strategies and tactics; obtaining and analyzing competitor information; and making bid/no bid recommendations. The Combat Vehicles Business Development Director will report to the Director of Business Development for Marine Corps and Amphibious programs.

Identifies, develops, and supports implementation of near- and long-term business strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, services, follow-on products, and/or industries. Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of business opportunities. Leads business development efforts to identify and capture competitive opportunities for the AV business and wider CMS product line. Evaluates market trends to substantiate long-term prospects. Works with sales, marketing, program management, and potential customers to determine their needs. As required, uses in-depth Marine Corps amphibious vehicle, weapon system, and training management expertise to support Combat Mission Systems business development and program management functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, pursues, and supports competitive and sole-source capture campaigns for the Combat Mission Systems business specifically related to our Amphibious and Technical Services offerings.
  • Maintains market cognizance related to our opportunities.
  • Functions as a key member of the AV Strategic Campaign, providing market oversight and analysis and developing opportunities in support of that effort.
  • Manages and expands external stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Develops and expands Marine Corps field service and service support programs.
  • Participates in strategy development to meet future business and industrialization needs.
  • Collaborates with our proposal management resources to support proposal development.
  • Supports and utilizes the principles of life cycle management, phase reviews, color reviews, competitor intelligence analysis, and strategy development as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with Program Management to ensure alignment between Capture, Proposal, and Execution plans.
  • Engages with customer contacts to promote business objectives and develop capture strategies.
  • Collaborates with other BAE Systems business sectors to develop future business opportunities.
  • Coordinates community investment activities and promotes company image and awareness at professional and social events.
  • Supports program managers with the development of their LCM phase review packages and other briefings as needed.
  • Serves as POC/Host for York, Sterling Heights, and San Jose facility customer tours as required.
  • Supports and acts as planner for elements of Modern Day Marine Exhibition and other domestic and international trade shows as required.
  • Develops, fosters, and maintains contacts with appropriate Marine Corps elements at the Marine Corps Systems Command, the Marine Corps Combat Development and Integration, Program Executive Officer Land Systems (PEO LS), and other Headquarters Marine Corps elements.
  • As an amphibious vehicle and weapon systems subject matter expert, supports international business activities including Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales opportunities.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in US Marine Corps Operating Forces, including Infantry, Artillery, Assault Amphibious Battalions, Combat Development and Integration, Program Executive Officer Land Systems, or other Headquarters directorates or MC elements
  • Experience in Combat Vehicle programs, including Assault Amphibious Vehicle, Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle, Amphibious Combat Vehicle, and/or other new development technologies related to the Combat Vehicle portfolio
  • Experience in Defense Program/Project/Operations Management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource management, policy compliance, performance management, etc.
  • Ability to support Life Cycle Management and meet customer requirements and business goals
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment within Business Development and Capture environments
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with international customers and business partners
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and working groups
  • Strong data analytics and reporting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience in the United States Marine Corps in senior command and staff positions
  • In-depth Amphibious Vehicle System level expertise in the latest Marine Corps Amphibious vehicle programs
  • Expertise in Marine Corps Acquisition, including efforts to develop and inform Combat vehicle Capabilities Design Documents (CDD) and Preliminary Design Review / Critical Design Review (PDR/CDR) working groups on amphibious combat vehicle and weapon system programs
  • Expertise in Business Development or Capture Management
  • Experience in Defense Acquisition processes
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
