Overview

LMI is seeking a TemporarySenior Project Coordinator to work remotely with at with ad-hoc travel to NASA's Johnsons Space Center in Houston, TX. This position will support the High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program within the NASA Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM). This position requires the ability to obtain a public trust clearance.This position allows for partial telework with the ability to travel to client sites in Houston, TX as required.

High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) was established through a partnership between NASA JSC and the State of Texas in 1999 under the umbrella of Texas Aerospace Scholars (TAS). HAS promotes the education of youth through project-based, interactive learning. HAS is composed of a 16-week online learning experience culminated by a six-day residential summer experience at NASA JSC. Students explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts with engineers and scientists at JSC, at no cost to participants. The experience includes briefings by NASA engineers and scientists, a student-centered team project mentored by a NASA engineer and scientist, hands-on engineering and design challenges, and tours of the JSC facilities.

The High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) six-day onsite residential experience changed to a five-day virtual summer experience, with two date options for participants. The teams with the highest scores will be invited to a four-day onsite experience following the virtual experience. Historically, HAS invites only 270 students to the onsite experience; however, this new virtual experience allows for 600+ students to participate.

ResponsibilitiesProvide a work plan and implementation schedule to the NASA activity manager, inclusive of all major milestones and deliverables. Develop and implement a communication and recruitment plan in partnership with NASA OSTEM, NASA OCOMM, Mission Directorates, and program offices. Identify training needs and develop and deliver training and materials (synchronous and asynchronous) for participants, educators, SMEs, and mentors. Travel to targeted recruitment areas for in-person recruitment throughout the State of Texas. Create position requirements for each of the following positions: Technical Reviewer, Design Challenge Facilitator, Game Moderator, Onsite Counselor, and Lead Onsite Counselor. Document participant success/impact stories inclusive of participants transition into the STEM workforce and awards received related to High School Aerospace Scholars. Collect, monitor, and respond to student applications submitted in NASA STEM Gateway, disseminating internal reports on application status, ranking student applications, and disseminating offers to students who meet specified criteria. Create recruitment, implementation, and retention plans for program expansion components and new program components. Create status and forecast reports as needed to assist with reporting to NASA HQ, success stories, quarterly High School Aerospace Scholars activity newsletters for review by the NASA activity manager, and a final report at the conclusion of the High School Aerospace Scholars activity. QualificationsMaster's degree with 6 years of experience preferred. Experience facilitating professional development for career and technical education STEM pathways in Texas, aerospace-focused professional development is a plus. Experience implementing STEM activities at high school and college level (formal or informal). Experience with curriculum writing for a high school and higher education audience. Experience with Instructional design best practices and implementation, specifically using multiple online platforms. Ability to coordinate technical reviews and operations with engineering focus. High-level communication and writing/editing skills to support content development and resources. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and digital learning platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Google Forms. Proficiency with computer-aided drafting and design tools and computer programming languages. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills. Excellent customer relationship management skills. Ability to work in a team-based environment. Ability to travel to and work on client sites as needed. Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.
