Business Development Responsibilities
  • Identifies and targets potential clients and projects that align with Marek's strategic objectives.
  • Establishes and nurtures strong, trusting relationships with both current and prospective clients, even in the absence of active projects.

Cost Analysis Duties
  • Effectively evaluates and prioritizes current and future bidding opportunities, considering upcoming projects.
  • Reviews plans, drawings, specifications, and conducts site visits to assess geographical features and logistics.
  • Gathers market intelligence and competitor insights to competitively price projects.
  • Collaborates closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors to obtain quotes.
  • Anticipates the impact of key variables on productivity and profitability.
  • Skillfully packages Marek's offerings for a competitive edge.
  • Enhances the accuracy and efficiency of project take-offs.
  • Manages time effectively to ensure timely bid submissions.
  • Facilitates the transfer of project knowledge from the estimating phase to the production team.
Project Management Functions
  • Collaborates with field leaders and clients during the pre-job planning phase to maximize project success.
  • Engages with the Marek project team in strategic pre-construction meetings to address potential challenges related to scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
  • Develops and secures client agreement on a schedule of values to ensure appropriate project funding and mitigate cost-related inquiries.
  • Proactively identifies scheduling and sequencing opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Regularly visits job sites to support the Marek field team and effectively manage safety, cost, and quality issues.
  • Addresses client concerns regarding safety, cost, production, or quality, proposing solutions for positive outcomes.
  • Accurately documents client agreements through the RFI and change order processes.
Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma/GED with relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field is advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, specifically in sales, estimating, and project management, preferably in general contracting and interiors.
  • Proven ability to develop new client relationships and successfully sell projects, with field experience being a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using various estimating, scheduling, and project management software (e.g., Quick Bid, On-Screen Take-Off, BlueBeam, PlanGrid).
