Duties

Brief Description of Duties:

The Case Processing Supervisor supervises up to eight direct reports. The incumbent plans, develops, implements, and evaluates vital administrative, managerial, and supervisory programs and functions to fulfill the Courts' strategic plan and to enhance the operational efficiency of the Superior Court in Civil matters.

As the Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing the following major duties:
  • Assists the Branch Supervisor with managing the day-to-day unit operations to meet the tactical objectives and key performance indicator targets derived from the division's Management Action Plan (MAP) and the Court's Strategic Plan.
  • Provides direct supervision of direct reports; planning, delegating, and evaluating work to be accomplished by subordinates; and, setting and adjusting work priorities.
  • Manages unit staffing and unit logistics to ensure effective operations and a safe work environment.
  • Monitors and processes cases to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Makes recommendations for new initiatives and improvements to the Branch Supervisor; implements best practices, business processes, and standard operating procedures for efficient operations and effective customer service.
  • Submits reports to the Branch Supervisor, including, but not limited to those pertaining to: caseload errors, management action plan objectives, key performance indicators, and personnel actions; all of which may be statistical, narrative, or advisory in nature.
  • Ensures a collaborative employee performance management approach by managing: the development and implementation of performance plans and evaluations; continuous feedback, coaching, and rewarding of staff; documentation of satisfactory and unsatisfactory performance; the timely addressing of performance issues; and the issuance of corrective actions, as needed, in accordance with Court policies and division procedures and standards.

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications:

      A high school diploma/GED and at least six (6) years of clerical and/or administrative experience in a court and/or legal environment, and one (1) year of experience as a supervisor. Attention to detail, time management, and impeccable follow-up skills are required.

      Successful completion of the Courts' Management Training Program counts as one year of supervisory experience.

      Education Substitution:

      An associate's degree and at least four (4) years of clerical and/or administrative experience in court or legal environment and one (1) year as a supervisor. Successful completion of the Court's management training program counts as one year of supervisory experience.

      A bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of clerical and/or administrative experience in a court or legal environment and one (1) year as a supervisor. Successful completion of the Court's management training program counts as one year of supervisory experience.

      The preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree in legal studies, business administration, public administration, human resources administration, or a closely related field; two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
