As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work in a highly distributed environment while operating and growing the current service offering of File Storage Service. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative environment, be familiar with ITIL and Agile methodologies, produce good technical documentation and be excited to learn. We're looking for hands-on engineers with a passion for solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years' experience supporting commercial software in a distributed environment.
  • Experience with Python, Terraform, Bash is strongly preferred and Ansible is desired.
  • Experience in Lustre or other high performance file systems.
  • Proven experience and understanding of Distributed File Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Operations, Linux, operating systems, and systems fundamentals.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging and ticket resolutions skills.
  • Ability to identify sources of toil and advocate for their reduction - collect meaningful metrics that aid in prioritization
  • Coordination with external teams, good communication and task management skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Routine day to day operations, including host management, Lustre file system and cluster management, security and compliance, automated and manual ticket resolution and customer notifications.
  • Participate in customer impacting incidents and lead timely mitigation and long-term resolution.
  • Review and approve operational readiness of new service features.
  • Continuous improvement of the service operations by proactively identifying functional improvements for the service, addressing recurring issues and improving serviceability.
  • Performing and fully own software deployments across both pre-production and production routinely using automated tools.
  • Identifying growth trends and provide input for capacity management
  • Participating in Large Scale Events involving Service dependencies.
  • Learn and Adapt for new technologies at a high pace environment.
  • React and create new alarms and definitions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and documenting operational processes
  • Identifying highest sources of ticket noise and operational toil and work with service team to:
  • Create and track bug fixes.
  • Adjust alarm thresholds.
  • Identify missing metrics and alarms.
  • Proficient in Change Management best practices.

US: Hiring Range: from $79,000 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
