Job Overview/Summary: The Finance Specialist assists the finance team in accurately controlling and managing the implementation of accounting systems with a primary focus on supporting the IRC in Denver, Colorado. The Finance Specialist provides internal and external partners with timely, accurate and understandable financial information and reports. Major Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with IRC's accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements, for both the office and donors.
  • Coordinate the implementation of IRC's internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Support daily financial activities:
  • Prepare entries and approve invoice journals,
  • Invoice and report on Accounts Receivables,
  • Resolve journal entry discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end/year-end closing tasks:
  • Prepare monthly billing with review of account transactions to ensure accurate coding and completeness,
  • Produce variance analysis report,
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience working in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or administrative support, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way
  • Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs
  • Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet
  • Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
Working Environment:A combination of standard office environment and remote work.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs.
