What Are We Looking For

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) will assist the RNs in the Cancer Center with a variety of functions including phlebotomy and EKGs. Assists with equipment preparation and set up (Paxman cooling systems), accompanies patient to infusion bays for treatment, assists with ordering and stocking of infusion bays.

Our Patient Care Associate team prides themselves in responding to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Skills

  • Knowledge of English language sufficient to read, speak, and write accurately.
  • Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.
  • Knowledge of simple arithmetic
  • Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.
  • Preferred : Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
  • Required: Licensed, certified or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing program, Pre-Med or PA undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed at time of hire, and able to complete the PCA skills/tasks list.
