Social Work:
The duties of the Senior Social Worker (Veteran's Justice Outreach) include but are not limited to the following:


Provide a full range of advance practice psychological assessment services and diagnose mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients.

Provide comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
Function independently as a member of Charlie Norwood VAMC Medical Staff with clinical privileges.

Independently evaluates the client's situation, including the Veteran's reaction and ability to deal with it, and arrives at a reasoned conclusion.

Assist with program development, evaluation, and effectiveness.

Incumbent will take an active role in the Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) preparation and surveys.

Develop and implement information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, inpatient days, patient demographics, Interview Veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the Veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment.

Interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs.
Develops psychosocial treatment plans in coordination with interdisciplinary team members, including goals for psychosocial clinical treatment.
Provide supportive counseling and appropriate case management services to reduce the Veteran's stress throughout all phases of treatment.
Participates in the assignment of Veterans to treatment teams and programs. Consults with other specialists in planning treatment for Veterans and with co-morbidities.

Organizes community services on behalf of beneficiaries, developing and coordinating procedures for use of these services by related staff.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the assigned Supervisor and/or Social Work Executive/Chief as needed for the benefit of the Veteran, family, and quality of services provided.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases


When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave:


After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


Child Care Subsidy:


After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.
