Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

Patient Interaction:

  • Welcomes patients in person or over the telephone, answering inquiries.
  • Provides follow-up care through callbacks, lab test reporting, prescription coordination, and referrals.

Clinical Procedures:

  • Prepares lab specimens, disposes of contaminated supplies, and assists with various procedures.
  • Performs routine laboratory tasks (e.g., urinalysis, blood glucose tests).
  • Assists physicians during patient examinations.

Administrative Duties:

  • Handles front desk functions, schedules patient appointments, and manages phone inquiries.
  • Maintains instruments, diagnostic equipment, and supplies.
  • Evaluates new patient charts.
  • Triage and manage calls.
  • Assists with policy and protocol revisions.


Skills and Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Formal Training: Graduate of a medical assisting course.

Clinical Background: Previous experience in clinical physician’s offices.

CPR Certification: Holds a valid CPR certification.

Bilingual Proficiency: Preferred in Spanish, Russian, or Chinese.

Clinical Skills:

  • Phlebotomy: Skilled in blood collection.
  • Immunizations/Injections: Knowledge of administering vaccines.
  • Assisting Providers: Able to assist physicians during procedures.
  • Autoclaving/Sterilization Techniques: Familiar with instrument sterilization.

Administrative Skills:

  • Computer Literacy: Basic MS Word functions and computerized filing.
  • Supervisory Abilities: Can oversee medical staff.
  • General Office Skills: Typing, spelling, filing, and reception.
  • Reading and Math Proficiency: Good basic literacy.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and patient interaction.
  • Critical Thinking and Coordination: Analytical and multitasking abilities.
  • Service-Oriented Attitude: Prioritizes patient care.
