POSITION SUMMARY-

The Vice President of Corporate Compliance (VPCC) plays a critical role in ensuring Surgenex adheres to ethical standards and regulatory requirement. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Surgenex’s compliance program. This role ensures that all business operations and practices adhere to relevant laws, regulations and ethical standards. The VPCC works closely with various departments to assess and mitigate compliance risks, conduct investigations, and promote a culture of ethical behavior. The VPCC is also responsible for overseeing all aspects of contract management throughout the lifecycle of contracts and will work closely with various departments to ensure contracts are drafted, negotiated, executed, and managed efficiently and effectively.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES-

Oversight and Leadership:

  • The VPCC provides centralized oversight of the organization’s ethics and compliance efforts.
  • Manage and oversee the corporate ethics and compliance program, including administration, investigation, and enforcement policies.

Culture and Communication:

  • Fosters a culture of sensitivity to ethical and compliant behavior within the company.
  • Effectively communicates ethics and compliance standards to employees, contractors, and vendors.

Compliance program management:

  • Develop, implement, and manage an effective compliance program.
  • Remains current on all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards and ensure these are reflected in practice and procedure.
  • Manages and monitor the compliance hotline to ensure all reports are investigated timely in accordance to Surgenex compliance policies.

Risk assessment:

  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assess and address compliance risks associated with business initiatives.

Policy development and documentation:

  • Draft and update company compliance procedures in accordance to Surgenex’s quality systems, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Training and Education:

  • Coordinates and provides employee training on compliance with laws and corporate policies.

Monitoring and Auditing:

  • Coordinates and supports monitoring and auditing procedures related to business conduct practices.
  • Implement monitoring and auditing processes, in alignment with Surgenex’s Quality Management System, to assess regulatory compliance (Anti-Kickback laws, Sunshine Act, etc.) and the effectiveness of the compliance program.
  • Investigate and address any instances of non-compliance.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare regular reports on the status of the compliance program for the Compliance Committee / executive leadership.
  • Collaborates with various departments (Finance, Human Resources, etc.) to ensure accurate and timely tracking and reporting including but not limited to internal HCP expense excursions and Sunshine Law reporting.
  • Serve as a point of contact for compliance related communication within Surgenex.

Investigations:

  • Conduct internal investigations into alleged violations of company policies or external regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of all investigations, actions, and conclusions.

   

  • Manages the recruiting, selection, training, development, and performance of the assigned staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce.
  • Establishes and communicates job responsibilities as well as employee performance expectations to assure mutual understanding of desired performance and results.
  • Constructively coaches and counsels for success to seek optimal employee performance.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business or law, or related focus preferred.

Experience: Six to ten years in corporate compliance or a related role. Working knowledge of relevant regulatory agencies. Strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology.

Computer Skills: Working proficiency and experience with Mac and Goggle suite programs.

Certificates & Licenses: Compliance certification a plus.
