Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology

Vaxess Technologies is developing next generation vaccines and therapies based on its proprietary MIMIXTM Microneedle Array Patch technology. We are seeking a talented, collaborative, and highly motivated individual with expertise in animal models, pharmacology and immunology to join our core team of scientists and engineers. Responsibilities
- Lead design of immunogenicity and pharmacokinetic studies, engaging key internal and external stakeholders in the process. Support the design of IND-enabling safety and efficacy studies.
- Manage direct reports in the preclinical group. Organize personnel support and other key resources to ensure successful study outcomes. Provide hands-on study support and cross-training as needed.
- Manage external animal studies at CROs and ensure proper tech transfer of materials and protocols.
- Engage with internal teams in research and early development, defining the questions critical for platform animal model and device development.
- Present results in internal and external meetings and lead scientific report writing.
- Develop or improve organizational tools to collate in vivo study endpoints for team-wide visibility.
- Ensure compliance with IACUC and facilitate training and credentialing for new staff members.
Qualifications
- PhD with 1-3 years of experience or BS/MS with at least 5 years of experience in pharmacology, biology, or related field of study in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience with pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) study design and analysis is required
- Hands-on experience with a variety of rodent models, including mice and rats, and experience managing or executing large animal experiments in swine or non-human primates
- Proficiency interpreting clinical signs and basic animal health screening data
- Experience training junior staff on various administration and blood sampling techniques
- Familiarity with IACUC review and approval processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Committed to working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary cross-functional team
