Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Community Development will focus on engaging the community, fostering relationships and helping ensure the fundraising goals of the organization are met. The Director of Community Development will be primarily responsible for implementing the fundraising strategy for the organization, including relationship building, special events, donor database management, prospect research and donor communication.


The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in a professional, preferably non-profit, environment with fundraising, development, marketing, and special events experience.


The ideal candidate will have experience in all facets of fundraising, including individual and major gifts, developing special events and community outreach with a proven track record of successfully implementing development strategies. Additionally the individual will have excellent writing and public speaking skills.


Some travel required between three-county service area of Atlantic, Cape May, and Camden. This position is able to work out of our Camden County office, or our Atlantic County office.


The Director of Community Development should have the following skills and experience:


  • BA/BS Degree is required
  • Previous experience in fundraising field, including individual and major gifts, special events and community outreach
  • Must have excellent writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills, and must be interested in a career in development with a focus on individual giving and special events
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to help drive projects to completion and multi-task
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting and willingness to work a flexible schedule is also required
  • Experience with donor management software is a plus
  • Occasional participation in evening and weekend community events would also be expected.
