Director Transportation & Logistics:

The Director Transportation & Logistics is responsible for developing strategies to increase profitability, drive a positive safety culture and ensure efficiency within processes and departments.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and route logistics of transports, tank wagon, packaged goods, drums, and service request.
  • Optimize deliveries to maximize asset value-achieve gallons per hour metrics, reduce down time, reduce drivers hours increase delivery sizes to achieve economies of scale.
  • Oversee marine load rotations to drive efficiency & optimize deliveries (time waiting at dock, driver hour idle time, terminal access, etc.).
  • Manage evolution of routing and logistics, including: grow the tank & monitor network, establishing of new route patterns, partner with Sales team to enter new geographies and create density, and assist in implementing smart truck technology.
  • Manage relationships/agreements with internal and external partners/vendors. External- Suppliers, allocation tracking, asking for extra daily allocation, negotiation contracts, loading number management, BOL issuance and reversals, terminals, access, product integrity, allocation, incident management/issue resolution, common carriers, tank manufactures, tank monitor companies. Internal-Branch Managers, dispatch teams, sales team, warehouse, ops/drivers, ROC Leadership.
  • Oversee and Grow Assets & Inventory Management Program: + Tanks-manager the ordering, installation, servicing, and usage of tanks. Closely monitor location of tanks audit the ROI and work with sales to pick tanks up as consumption falls or projects come to completion.
  • Tank monitoring- manage the ordering, installation, servicing, and usage of inventory management monitors. Closely monitor consumption patterns by customer, understand days of supply & days to empty. Monitor alarms and closely track runouts.
  • Supply Management & Load Optimization: + Works on establishing strong supply basket-helps determine the right supply mix between contract, spot, day deal, & inventory per market, per product, etc.
  • Develops supplier relationship and helps execute ROC supply strategy.
  • Tracks supply contracts, including volume commitments, renewals, allocations, etc.
  • Optimizes loads to buy cheapest supply source and enhance margins.
  • Manages total cost of ownership model
understands the cost of ownership per branch, per line of business. Works with sales team to drive revenue management initiatives and ensure business is profitable.

  • Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations missionspecifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
  • Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Provides vision and leadership in long-range fiscal planning to ensure the continuity and solvency of the company. Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence.
  • Analyzes each divisions or departments budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made and allocates the operating budget. Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls
  • Confers with corporate administrative personnel, reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine what changes in programs or operations are required.
  • Directs preparation of directives to division or department administrator outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented.
  • Employee must demonstrate safe work and risk management practices. Communicate and enforce all safety and security issues. Report and process all employee and/or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with Parkland USAs policy and procedure.
  • Follow and enforce all Parkland USAs policies and established procedures. Implement and enforce all merchandising and vendor policies and procedures.

Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Logistics, Supply Chain or Finance or another related field.
7-10years of experience in management capacity.
Proven skills in business and financial management.
Significant logistics experience desired (5+ years preferred).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to recognize opportunities to improve the business results and/or profitability.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in business management, planning and financial oversight.
A minimum of five years of experience in personnel management, including hiring, supervision, and evaluation
