Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to join our team at Waste Connections. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleets and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to our corporate safety program and foster a culture of safety among team members.
  • Coordinate the selling of commodities at the highest price possible and ensure adequate training of mechanics and preventative maintenance mechanics.
  • Ensure location compliance with all regulatory agencies and statutes, and maintain control of inventory and equipment.
  • Train and assist mechanics on methods for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment, and schedule or assign work to mechanics, PM mechanics, or other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Coordinate and/or transport vehicles to outside service for repairs, as needed, and test vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.
  • Prepare purchase orders and research best prices on parts or repairs from vendors, and make emergency road calls to repair trucks.
  • Communicate regularly with the Region Maintenance Manager and assist in monthly financial projections and annual budget.
  • Responsible for maintaining department's costs within budget.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years maintenance experience in truck, light or heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Waste industry experience desired.
  • Ability to train and motivate staff a must.
  • Knowledge of air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Trade or Technical School Certificate preferred. High School or Equivalent required.
  • Holds or ability to certify for CDL within 90 days of start date.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
