Job Overview

The Critical Care Transport Paramedic is responsible for delivering high-quality medical care to critically ill patients during their transport via the LifeFlight Transport Program. This role involves providing patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Transport Physician, utilizing advanced assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and intervention skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients during transport, ensuring adherence to protocols set by the RN or MD.
  • Administer medications as required, including ACLS, PALS, and NRP, in accordance with transport protocols and the Medical Director's guidelines.
  • Assist with both inter-facility and intra-facility patient transfers, addressing the personal needs of patients and their families throughout the process.
  • Act as a professional representative of the Miami Children's Hospital LifeFlight Transport Program during every shift.
  • Ensure the maintenance and readiness of ambulances, transport equipment, and supplies on each shift.
  • Conduct assessments and monitor vital signs for each patient contact.
  • Promote corporate compliance with the Code of Business and Ethical Conduct during all operations.
  • Support the Critical Care team during rotor and fixed-wing transports under RN supervision.
  • Manage transport requests, maintain accurate records, and provide clerical support as assigned.
  • Engage in ongoing development of the LifeFlight program by participating in meetings, in-services, and committees, and completing assigned projects.
  • Provide continuous supervision and observation of behavioral health patients, employing non-violent crisis intervention strategies as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Active Florida Paramedic license.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Current certifications in BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP, all maintained in good standing.
  • Completion of the Florida DOT Medical Course within six months of hire.
  • Successful completion of the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC).
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within six months of hire.
  • Trauma certification (PHTLS or ITLS) required within six months of hire.
  • 3-5 years of paramedic experience, with 1-3 years in emergency vehicle operation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; CCEMT-P and NREMT-P certifications are advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Availability for shifts, including on-call hours as needed.
