JOB TITLE: Data Analyst

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science or Data Analytics - equivalent work experience is acceptable.
  • MUST BE CERTIFIED in one of the following cybersecurity certifications: CompTIA Security +, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), or Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP).
  • Possess the skills for applying a broad knowledge in the areas of data science, computer science, and be able to serve as a consultant and technical advisor to senior subject matter experts and / or management officials.
  • Strong experience with statistical and programming languages such as Visual Basic, SQL, Java, C++, R, or Python
  • Knowledge and experience with applying data visualization techniques and tools such as, Microsoft Power BI, and Tableau; collect, analyze, interpret, build relationship models including databases, pivot tables and macros.
  • Strong experience with statistics and analysis techniques and familiarity with Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM).
  • Knowledge in submarine systems, submarine maintenance, data analysis, and business understanding are required.
  • Experience in maintenance planning and execution including SUBMEPP business processes, Naval Shipyard repair and logistics operations processes and NAVSEA and Type Commander processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have experience with data literacy and experience using data from multiple data sources with the ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.
  • Qualification or professional training and experience in any area of submarine maintenance
  • Engineering, maintenance planning, logistics, execution, and finance experience are highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Use predictive analytics in optimizing submarine class maintenance planning.
  • Perform predictive and diagnostic analysis of submarine maintenance periods to aid in further determining challenges, risks, and preventing submarine maintenance issues during maintenance availability periods.
  • Apply analytical and evaluative methodologies to predict problems concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of submarine maintenance periods.
  • Liaise between business process owners and engineers identifying and analyzing data needs, measuring the performance of maintenance planning.
  • Participate in the development of corporate standards for submarine maintenance data analytics.
  • Effectively communicates the analysis and findings through data visualizations, documents, and the use of visualization software and strategies for various audiences.
  • Promote the use of standard tools, methodologies, and processes for use across the entire organization.
  • Build expertise in a common tool set to enable advancement in data analysis maturity; act as both an advocate and a catalyst for the organization to use data analysis in support of business decision making.
  • Improve quality of analysis by standardizing levels of competency through training and qualification program.
