The Algorithm & Analysis Engineer is responsible for the development and support of cutting-edge algorithms involving data fusion, sensor fusion, machine learning, manned/unmanned avionics improvement programs, and genetic programming. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, implementing, optimizing, and evaluating computer algorithms, bridging the gap between theoretical algorithm concepts and practical software engineering applications.
- Performing data cleaning and fundamental data analysis, creating new tools with significant reusability
- Designing and conducting algorithm tests independently
- Taking a leading role in algorithm design discussions and testing larger algorithm portions with minimal oversight
- Leading technical report execution and engaging with sponsors for research discussions
- Contributing to technical journal articles and conference presentations
- Mentoring student researchers and supporting their technical development
Additional Responsibilities
- Developing real-time algorithms for robotics applications, including multi-robot collaboration, swarming control, path planning, and navigation
- Performing rapid prototyping and field-testing
- Generating research reports, publications, proposals, and briefs
- Creating robotic simulations using C++, ROS, Linux, and SCRIMMAGE
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates currently pursuing a relevant degree program with graduation by May 2024
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Hands-on experience with advanced algorithms on mobile robot systems and proficiency in programming languages and systems such as Java, Python, C++, ROS, Linux, and SCRIMMAGE
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- Demonstrated publication history in independent research
- Experience in MATLAB, Python, and deploying algorithms for real-time robot operation
- Skills in ROS, SCRIMMAGE, Multi-robot collaboration, Path planning, Behavior-based robotics, Optimal control, and Machine learning
Travel Requirements
- 10% - 25% travel
Education and Experience
This position is open-rank, and job qualifications align with Research Faculty Extension Professional ranks at Georgia Tech
- 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields
- 3 years of experience with a Masters' degree
- Ph.D. with no prior experience
U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates must be U.S. Citizens
Clearance Type Required
