Job Summary:

The Property Accountant performs the property accounting and reporting tasks related to TBD Management properties and communities. This position reports to the Property Accounting Manager and requires an individual who is highly competent in organization and prioritizing tasks while staying committed to delivering quality work and meeting deadlines

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations (including bank reconciliations, and other balance sheet accounts), journal entries, account analysis and monthly financial statement preparation for various properties
  • Assist with preparation of internal reporting packages, including the results of property operations, wholly-owned and joint-venture properties preparation of month end financial statement package
  • Prepare the monthly calculation of property management fees, other contractual fees, commissions earned for property move-ins and bill-backs.
  • Review and monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up with Property Manager on collections
  • Assist with the preparation of operating property budgets, as needed
  • Perform treasury management functions including management of online accounts, wires, daily cash reconciliations, cash flow projections
  • Review coding of accounts payable invoices including petty cash reports and credit card transactions to post in the general ledger
  • Prepare the weekly check run
  • Create new vendors, manage vendor files, and prepare and issue 1099's
  • Prepare monthly lender draw packages, if applicable
  • Prepare annual audit work documents for year-end audits or tax return preparation, if applicable.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 2-4 years of property accounting experience required
  • Yardi (Voyager & P2P) experience preferred
  • Intermediate Excel experience required.
  • Solid understanding of accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and related products.
  • Must be deadline focused, organized and exhibit problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Interact effectively as part of a team.
  • Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
  • Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.

Essential Functions:
  • Typical work schedule, Monday through Friday, and after hours as requested.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device.
  • Excellent organization, coordination, and project management skills.

  • Ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication in English.
