We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Associate to join the regulatory team, which works across all lines of our business.

As a Regulatory Affairs Associate, you will help ensure that Percepto is complying with a range of legal, regulatory, and standards requirements for our operations while promoting an overall culture of compliance.


About the role:

Using the right-sized, risk management approaches, you will help draft various Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waivers, exemptions, authorizations, and other approvals that will balance Percepto's legal requirements with the dynamic needs of our business.

You will work with teams across the company, including our engineering and product operation teams, to proactively identify and develop innovative, efficient, and effective solutions for regulatory compliance.

This role is right for you if you are seeking an iterative environment where you can drive innovation and apply state-of-the-art technologies to revolutionize the way vital infrastructure and assets are inspected and monitored.

The position will be located at our Austin office, offering the potential for a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and draft Part 107 waivers and other FAA authorizations and approvals.
  • Lead the formulation and implementation of internal company processes and protocols to ensure alignment with regulatory approvals.
  • Develop and oversee systems for ongoing internal process evaluations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Product, Operations, and Commercial teams, as well as with external advisors, to drive as much consistency as possible for the efficient development of FAA approval deliverables.
  • Identify potential risk areas and develop systems, policies, and procedures to manage and mitigate them.
  • Provide data to the FAA and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Guiding clients through the FAA regulation and certification process.
  • Assist the regulatory team with its other activities and its mission as needed.
Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. in Political science, Pre-law studies, Government and Public policy, journalism, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, with UAS regulatory, policy, or legal roles.
  • Experience writing regulatory, commercial, or business-oriented documentation.
  • Experience working with the FAA or U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) on Part 107 waivers or other UAS regulatory approval processes, as applicable.
  • Familiarity with USDOT and FAA regulations and associated CONOPS, means of compliance, and guidance materials for UAS operations.
  • Knowledge/understanding of safety risk management principles in aviation.
  • Knowledge/understanding of operational risk assessments.
  • Interpret and communicate complex government rules & regulations.
  • Detail-oriented and adept at breaking complex or sprawling regulatory instructions into components and distinguishing between high- and low-priority issues.
  • Proven interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proactive team player with great people skills, the ability to work independently, and to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing environment.
