Group Exercise Instructor

You'll be giving guidance and support to members in their fitness journey by providing instruction in group settings for cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility training. We are seeking instructors who have a good grasp of the needs of health enthusiasts and active fitness participants, and can introduce new and creative class formats.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold current job-specific certifications such as Pilates, yoga, TRX, Zumba, ACE, AFAA, etc.
  • Preferred two years of relevant experience.
  • Physically capable of leading fitness activities and demonstrating related skills.
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hiring include CPR/AED and First Aid, along with Child Abuse Prevention training for Youth and Family Fitness programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Need to have sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to carry out essential functions and supervise program activities. Also, the ability to handle moderate to high noise levels and respond quickly in emergency situations is crucial.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistently arrive on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to perform your job duties.
  • Make an effort to learn member's names and individual goals during each shift.
  • Efficiently plan, organize, and deliver class curriculum to enhance skill development.
  • Follow the substitution policy by arranging substitutes for planned time off and informing the Director of such changes.
  • Ensure equipment is put back in its place after use to maintain a tidy environment.
  • Stay informed about any changes in schedules, procedures, or staff that might impact member experience and guide them through these changes in a supportive manner.
  • Consistently exemplify the Y's values of caring, respect, responsibility, and citizenship, fostering the development of these values in our members.
