Position Summary: The Buyer plays a crucial role in material planning, overseeing all aspects of procurement to ensure timely material delivery in support of production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and assess supplier OTD, maintaining regular communication to enhance delivery performance.
  • Oversee commodities and establish reorder levels to align with production and revenue targets.
  • Negotiate and handle purchase orders for all commodities.
  • Lead the RFQ process, securing product cost and availability to meet customer demands.
  • Expeditiously handle quotation acknowledgments and respond promptly to commercial and technical inquiries (RFQ).
  • Create purchase orders for all vendors, including those under strategic pricing agreements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and service quality enhancement through negotiation and ideation.
  • Coordinate deliveries, address shortages, delays, and other supply issues with suppliers.
  • Keep track of requisitions, contracts, and orders, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Address inquiries from customers and suppliers regarding orders, modifications, or cancellations.
  • Record and monitor supplier non-conformance and manage returns for non-compliant materials.
  • Organize inbound shipments and maintain accurate receiving records.
  • Create part numbers for purchased items as needed, covering pricing, lead time, supplier details, and ERP data.
  • Review and approve invoices, resolving any discrepancies with the accounts payable team.
  • Support distribution requisition planning and provide timely and accurate responses to queries.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, fostering daily communication with manufacturing teams and stakeholders.
  • Undergo cross-training to become proficient in all purchasing duties.
  • Adhere to and contribute to ISO9001 procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business or supply chain management.
  • On-site presence required at all times.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and e-Kanban systems.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems such as QAD and SAP.
  • 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, production, or inventory control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Team player with a collaborative work approach.
  • Analytical mindset with a sense of urgency.
