About The Role

The Fraud Investigator plays a crucial role in analyzing and identifying fraud trends and patterns within Credit and/or Debit card portfolios. By implementing preventive actions, the Investigator helps mitigate exposure to fraud. They are also involved in Fraud Prevention projects and association-related risk assessments and compliance.

Primary & Essential Responsibilities

  • Review, mitigate, investigate, and recover allegations or suspicions of external customer asset fraud.
  • Analyze transmittal records and supporting documentation to determine chargeback eligibility.
  • Ensure timely prevention of monetary losses while maintaining quality standards.
  • Communicate with customers, merchants, and leadership regarding fraud claims.
  • Maintain departmental procedures and ensure accurate fraud reporting.
  • Report important fraud trends and potential issues to management.
  • Utilize Case Management System and reporting tools effectively.
  • Conduct research using available tools and systems for case resolution.
  • Assess client profile data against hits to identify abnormal activity.
  • Escalate retention or termination decisions and monitor account closures.
  • Proactively identify risks and drive mitigation activities.
  • Collaborate with management to escalate risks to enhance risk management.
  • Take actions to block and prevent future fraud while minimizing customer impact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree preferred, high school diploma with 2-3 years of experience in the financial sector.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
  • Apply judgement and problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Manage multiple tasks competently and professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
