Job Summary:


This role involves managing the office - supporting donors, and assisting our students at the learning center - including student intake, offering after-school support, and coordination.

The position is based at our Skid Row Learning Center located at 7th and San Pedro in Downtown LA. The position will working closely with volunteers, students, and parents.

Administration:

  • Welcoming and assisting students and parents as they arrive.
  • Work with the team responsible for organizing and maintaining all facilities, setting up meetings, and Board/staff lunches.
  • File and maintain student records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Answer phone calls and provide excellent phone etiquette to assist students and parents
  • Manage calendars and schedule appointments
  • Assist with maintaining office supplies and inventory management
  • Provide administrative support, including processing letters, gathering information, and sending mass mailings.
  • Reserve meeting and appointment space through the use of online calendars.
  • Provide general support to visitors, including volunteers, staff, and donors.

Facility Duties:

  • Maintain a clean environment for the students, tutors, and staff at the learning center.
  • Manage the partnership with the LA Food Bank and key partners to ensure an effective and smooth student experience.

Donor Administration:

  • Responsible for accepting and recording material donations into the database.
  • Assist donors with loading and unloading all material donations.
  • Organize storage areas with material donations and maintain orderly storage space.
  • Ensure that material donations distributed and received are accurately recorded.

Programming Duties:

  • Provide information about the learning center's programs, services, and policies.
  • Assist with the completion of registration forms, enrollment paperwork, and field trips.
  • Address concerns from students and their families regarding the program offerings and support services.
  • Maintain accurate records of enrollment, take student attendance, and provide resources for families exiting the program.
  • Collaborating with community organizations and schools to recruit and enroll new students.
  • Assist the learning center team in creating engaging and interactive learning activities and materials to supplement classroom instruction.

  • Previous experience in an administrative role is a plus.
  • Experience working as a school administrator is a plus.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment while working independently.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills are a must.
  • Interest in working for a missiondriven nonprofit organization and exemplifying the organization's values, integrity, and ethics.
  • Must pass a Livescan Fingerprint background check

Salary and working conditions:

  • Schedule : Monday
  • Friday from 10 am 6 pm, with occasional evenings or weekends for events or special programs. Flexibility in scheduling may be required to accommodate the needs of students and parents.
  • Primarily officebased but involves some level of physical activity, such as moving supplies or setting up equipment for activities. Additionally, prolonged periods of standing or sitting may be required during tutoring sessions or activities.
  • Awareness of safety protocol and sensitivity to the surrounding community's needs and challenges are important. We have specific guidelines and procedures in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, volunteers, and students.

Pay:
$ $22.12 per hour
