The chemical treatment of metal surfaces is BASF/Chemetall core competence. The focus of our worldwide activities is on the development and implementation of customized technology and system solutions for surface treatment.

Where The Chemistry Happens

BASF/Chemetall is looking for a Key Account Manager to join our enthusiastic, supportive, and driven team. The position consists of managing the overall business objectives, goals, strategies, and sales responsibilities of selected strategic accounts. The KAM will be ensuring strategic and tactical objectives are achieved for the selected customers. This position will establish and maintain favorable customer relations at engineering, technology on current and future production, local plant level to help roll out new processes.

This position will be the focal point for all customer interaction, regional in scope, and will be responsible for total customer relationship management. The KAM will also maintain high communication and involvement within the organization. Strong relationships with the global internal team (management, RD&E, customer service, plant sales, etc.) are necessary.

This position is remote, this individual will manage customer accounts located in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Formula For Success

  • Customer relationship management to include interaction with: Management, Materials and Process Engineering, Purchasing, Design, Q C, Environmental, Etc.
  • Coordinate product specifications globally (Ensure specs are global where relevant)
  • Develop project & product leverage around the world
  • Communicate needs to local directional team for new product ideas and growth
  • Communicate with directional team on active RD&E projects with key accounts as well as, global communication
  • Manage the profitability and growth of the accounts
  • Develop a Value-Added sales model through cost saving program implementation and through new product introduction.
  • Understand global cost issues relating to your account
  • Develop strategy & tactics for key accounts to successfully
  • Accomplish financial goals, continuous improvements, and account growth
  • Define, monitor, organize, and communicate competitive methods and other techniques/trends of assembly etc.
  • Conducting technical presentations, Tech Expos, etc., about Chemical technology at key customer locations

Ingredients For Success

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related Field required.
  • Five to seven years of experience within a similar environment preferred; experience with surface treatment chemicals, cleaners, abrasives, adhesives, automotive/OEM is preferred.
  • Customer account management, experience in managing large, multinational, and multimillion-dollar accounts is required.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Experience with creating sales proposals is required.
  • Experience with contract management (negotiations/terms/RFQs) is required.
  • Team leadership, working with multiple people at customer accounts.
  • Strong business acumen experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills is required, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer and database management skills.
  • Company car included, a valid drivers license in good standing is required.
  • Ability to travel 50-60%, occasional travel to Mexico.
