About the Role

  • Learn to troubleshoot and repair dies in the press andor on the bench.
  • Progress as outlined in the Apprenticeship program.
  • Brainstorm improvements in tooling and in all plant processes.
  • Learn to set up and operate Tool Room equipment including drill press, drill, lathe, mill and grinder.
  • Assist with die setting activities.
  • Provide training to Press Operator I's.
  • Attend college courses and maintain a C or better grade in all classes.
  • Take direction from Manager, Leader and experienced Tool & Die Co-workers and acquire required skills for each 1000 hour assessment.
  • Assist the organization in implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work, implementation of SMED and continuous improvement activities.
  • Responsible to complete all required Toolroom documentation (paperwork and computer) including Last-off Reports, Die Maintenance Reports, Mis-hit Reports, etc.
  • Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and orderliness of the Toolroom and at presses when performing work.
  • Learn to remove, repair and install all die sections that have been damaged or are dull, and verify that work has been done correctly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, supporting 5S, Health & Safety and Environmental initiatives.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.
  • Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment). Reports unsafe conditions.
  • Active participation in MAFACT Teams and activities as required.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits Cost saving improvement suggestions, CIP's.
  • Treat team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee's Charter and Common Values.
